Common sense

So last week I took a life guarding shift down at the pool that I work at in Brigham City. It was going great until a family of hooligans showed up. There were 6 of them I think.. It sure felt like a lot more. There was a mother and a father plus 4 kids between the ages of 3 and I don't know maybe 10. Well I guess the mom and dad decided that they wanted to play with the older kids and left the 3 year old ALONE on the stairs where he could touch. I mean really come on! I was pretty impressed for a while though because he just stayed there and played by himself, but then it came time to rotate so the girl rotating me came out and I told her to keep an eye on him and I turn to point him out to her and what did we see?? Oh just him off of the stairs where he couldn't touch, so I hurried and ran over and jumped in and got him. The mom didn't even realize that he had fallen off the steps until I jumped in and she saw it was her kid that I had. It made me so angry that a mom would just leave her three year old and expect him to stay, I just thought it was common sense to watch your kid at the pool when they didn't know how to swim, but I guess I was wrong. Haha. I really hope that it scared her and she watches him more closely next time they decide to go to a pool.
Being a life guard I have seen people do some pretty stupid stuff, but I think the stupidest is the parents that don't watch the kids that can't swim. Honestly it is kind of sad how many people lack common sense these days.
Other than that everything else had been AWESOME!!! I found some place to live next fall so I don't need to stress about that anymore, the next thing on my list is to register for classes for next fall and then my I will be completely stress free!! :)

SPRING BREAK!

So this last week it was FINALLY my spring break! It felt like it took for freaking ever for it to get here. But once I was done with school on Thursday I was so glad that I had a whole week before I needed to worry about anything again. I had to work on Saturday morning so I didn't get to actually leave until after, so that sucked a little bit, but hey it's money. So I headed back down to good old Mesquite on Saturday afternoon, luckily I was able to listen to conference the whole way down, that made the trip a lot more pleasant. On Monday I went snowboarding for my very first time and it was way fun! It was super hard and I didn't really get to the point of being able to make it down the hill without falling on my butt, but hey I had fun. But let me just say I was so sore the next day... I don't think that I have ever been that sore in my entire life and I'm not even exaggerating haha. Then on Tuesday I got to go out to lunch with Jessica and Kaeli! I love that when I go home I can still see some of my friends. As much as I try not get home sick, I still do quite a bit. Then Wednesday my family and I headed back up here to the cold, I was not to excited about that. But Brailee had a campus tour set up at Utah State for Thursday so we kind of had to come back. So Thursday we did the tour and went and got Aggie Ice Cream, which is the best Ice Cream ever. Friday was a super long day, we went Easter Dress shopping in Ogden, and then all my aunts, uncles, and cousins came over to my grandmas house for a big family dinner. It was a lot of fun, but it was pretty dang loud haha. Then on Saturday we went to see my Great-Grandma Gordon which was pretty cool because I haven't seen her since December I think, and it was just her birthday last week and she is now 97. After we were done visiting with her we headed down to RIO TINTO stadium and watched the REAL Salt Lake soccer game.
So I would have to say that all in all this was probably the most eventful spring break that I have had in a long time! It was super nice that my family had it the same time as me too, because I got to spend the whole time with them!

Thing teenagers find FUN...

So the other day while I was at the color festival I was thinking about everything that teenagers and college kids find fun.. and to be honest I never found a reason as to why we think they are fun, they just are.
1. True Aggie Night (or whichever college you go too)
Kissing a complete stranger at midnight. Or if you are lucky enough you have a special someone
2. Ipod dance parties
Dancing with your own ipod in and looking like a complete idiot haha.
3. Paint Dances/ The Color Festival
Throwing paint or powder chalk all of each other while dancing.
4. Couching
Getting an old couch and putting skies on the bottom and riding it down a snowy hill.
5. Polar Bearing
Jumping into a freezing river in the middle of January.
6. Movie Marathons
Watching all the Harry Potter movies in a night and then waking up for class the next morning
7. Eating Beto's in the middle of the night
Mexican food that gives you a belly ache every time you eat it.
8. Nacho Nights
Watching Nacho Libre while eating nachos!
9. Toga Parties
Going to party with a sheet draped over you
and
10. Mobile Dance Parties
Taking a boom box and around to random apartments and having a dance party in their house.
I have participated in all of these things at least once. And they were a BLAST! But then when I tell my parents about it they just act like it sounds we are just crazy, which we are. But that's what this part of our life is for to do stupid/ super fun stuff, because then when we have kids and they tell us the stupid things that they do we can kind of understand haha.

Gratefulness...

So this week it was spring break for Utah State unfortunately it was not spring break for my school.. darn. But the nice thing about this is that my grandparents only live 30 minutes away! So because all of my roommates were going to be gone the whole week, and staying here all by yourself is not all that fun, and it gets kinda creepy at night. I decided I would stay at my grandmas and just drive up to school for the week. I am so grateful that they live so close! It was so nice getting home cooked meals ALL WEEK! During the week I didn't really do much, because I would go to bed pretty early because of school. But on Saturday I got to see some friends I worked with over the summer and haven't seen in awhile. It was great to see them again. The person I spent most of the time with was my friend Ogden. I haven't seen him for awhile and it was really good to see him again. I didn't think that I ever would say this, but I think I am going to miss working with him this summer haha. Then my family came!! My dad had some meetings in Heber City that he had to go to, so they stayed in Heber Friday night and after the meetings they came to my grandparents so I didn't get to spend to much time with them because they left this afternoon, but I am just happy I got to see them. Sometimes it gets really hard living so far away from them. Especially on days that I am having an awful day and the only person that I want to talk to is my mom, and instead of just getting in the car and being home in 30 minutes I have to pick up the phone and call her. If I didn't have other family members close to me or have the good friends that I have, life would be a lot harder.
I am really grateful to have the people in life that I do right now. I have awesome roommates and I couldn't ask for better ones, we all get along so well. I have amazing friends that will talk to me whenever I need to talk about something. And I am pretty sure that I have one of the best and coolest families EVER!
And I am also grateful that it has not snowed at all this week... :) but now that I said that it will probably snow soon haha!!

Weekend adventures

So this weekend was so much fun. I don't have school on Fridays and that is SOOOOO nice. So on Friday I was able to go to the devotional thing that Utah State does called Religion and Life. The speaker did an awesome job. He talked about family history and how important it is. When I first found out what it was about I thought well maybe I won't go.. I already know how to do it on the computer. And in all honesty sometimes it can get a little boring listening to people talk about it, but I am so glad that I went! He was so funny and he knew so much about his ancestors, not just their names, but crazy things that happened to them during their lifetime. I thought I was doing pretty good with just knowing the names. It made me want to go out and actually learn something about my ancestors, besides just their name and who their kids were and so on.
On Saturday I went snowshoeing. It was the first time I had ever gone. Actually it is the first snow related activity I have done since I moved here (except for snowball fights.) Well let me just tell you I thought that it was going to be easy.. um no! My legs are so stinkin' sore! I have no idea how people make it look so easy. Maybe if we didn't climb up the hills I wouldn't be so sore, but what's the fun of that??
Then there was church on Sunday, which of course was wonderful. My roommate Alyce taught the lesson in Sunday School and she did an AMAZING job! I love listening to her lessons. She is great :) We also joined our ward choir. Its very little haha We had three boys at practice yesterday, but that is three more than we had last week so we're making progress!!

National Pancake Day

So... you know you are a poor starving college student when it is National anything that has to do with food day, because you cross your fingers that some restaurant will be giving it away for free. Well today was National Pancake Day and Ihop was giving out free pancakes. Along with giving all of the money they made off of other stuff to the Primary Children's hospital, which I thought was pretty cool. So I didn't feel to bad about going for lunch and dinner haha.
So with that being said today was a pretty darn good day!

Today

You know those days that are just kinda... I don't know what word to use to describe it... um... BLAH works pretty good I guess. It was just one of those days that wasn't very eventful. Nothing super exciting happened, but nothing bad happened either. I went to school, came home, ate dinner, went to FHE, our home teachers came over, and now I am getting ready to go to bed.
Sometimes days are just very uneventful, that's just the way that life works and it really makes you appreciate the days that are full of adventures!
The problem with uneventful days is that you have time to think, and worry about things that you don't even need to be worrying about or thinking about yet. Like today I thought a lot about what I was going to do once I am done with my Dental Assisting Certificate and where I was going to go. I am not even going to be done until the end of May and University's don't start again until August. I know that it's good to know what you want to do with your life, but I don't need to stress myself out about it right now right? So for right now I have decided to just relax, keep doing what I know I should be, pray & read my scriptures and I know everything will happen when and how it is supposed to.
